Chronicles of 1st Sgt. Michael "Ski" Wilczinski on his mission in Iraq Barbed wire image

This page of our web site is dedicated to one of our members, 1st Sgt. Mike "Ski" Wilczinski.

Mike and his troops are with the United States Army Reserve's 762nd Transportation Company.  Mike and 150 of his troops were deployed to Iraq on March 13, 2009.

The 762nd boarded four buses and headed for Camp Atterbury in Indiana.  Mike and the rest of the company will go through processing and more training at Camp Atterbury for an unspecified amount of time.  The company will then be sent to Kuwait and Iraq.

Captain Angela S. King-Sweigart, 310th Sustainment Command out of Indianapolis, stated that Mike's company will serve a lot of transportation needs for the other soldiers over in Kuwait and Iraq - they will be running supplies and personnel and making sure that equipment gets to where it's supposed to be.

All of us here at Rolling Thunder® Ohio Chapter 2 will be praying for Mike and his troops' safe return home.

God bless you Mike and God bless your family.

COME HOME

762nd Transportation Company Troop Send Off on March 13, 2009

Chapter 2 members Jon Woods (far left), 1st Sgt. Michael Wilczinski, Harold Murray, Kevin Ivey and Pat McPherson have a good laugh before the Troop Send Off.

Ohio Chapter 2 show their support for Michael and his troops.

Michael shares some words of wisdom before departing for Iraq.

1st. Sgt. Wilczinski addresses his troops of the 762nd Transportation Company before loading onto their buses.

The Patriot Guard stood by to honor the 762nd Transportation Company.  The members of the Patriot Guard are definitely Polar Bears - they stood outside of the USAR armory from 7:30 a.m. until the buses pulled out - now that's real hard core dedication to our troops.

Our troops prepare for deployment while loved ones give their support.

Balloons are released.

Mike makes a last minute inspection to ensure all of his troops are accounted for before pulling out for Camp Atterbury.

This is "it."  We're moving out.  Michael gives Dave Noaker a final wave goodbye.

The streets are lined with loved ones, family members, friends, and supporters of the 762nd Transportation Company.  The police escort fires up their vehicles and our troops are on their way to Iraq and Kuwait.

Michael is aboard the lead bus and they are rolling.

Last bus departs.

The Patriot Guard still standing and dedicating their time for our troops.  No one can say these guys aren't tough enough.
